a simple chair

Ro-Lu are friends who do a design and art studio in Minneapolis. I wrote a small text for their new publication, A Simple Chair. The publication also includes Greg Allen, Matt Olson (from Ro-Lu), and a really great text about tables by Sam Gould.

Also included in the publication is a 4-step plan to build A Simple Chair:

My photograph is blurry. If you want to make A Simple Chair:

Step 1 (top left): Cut material to specified width and lengths.

Step 2 (top right): Glue the joints where the front piece meets the side pieces and nail together.

Step 3 (bottom left): Glue the joints where the seat meets the base and nail together.

Step 4 (bottom right): Glue the joints where the back meets the base and nail together.

simple.

Materials: 4/4 lumber, 2″ nails, wood glue

Tools: saw, hammer

The dimensions for the wood (from top to bottom in photograph): 18″w x 29″l, 18″w x 18″l, 17 1/8″w x 16″l, 18″w x 16″l, 17 1/8″w x 16″1

My contribution was not about chairs, but a simple text about trees and my grandmother:
